youve all really fucked up with this weird hyper focus on pride flags i just saw a young kid ask if it was appropriation to wear the rainbow flag if they’re pan… and i keep seeing kids being scared asking if “they’re allowed” to go to pride as if there’s guards asking people what their sexuality is at pride… can we stop the fear mongering and misinformation it’s irresponsible
if your reaction to this post is “yeah fuck you gays” please go fuck yourself you’re 100% part of the problem making the community confusing and toxic for young kids who don’t have contextual understanding of all this. you’re spreading homophobia and fear mongering and that’s actually what the second part of this post was largely about. a lot of homophobic people within the community will fear monger that the Big Scary Gays will test you on how gay you are to see if you can come to pride and that is literally just bullshit. yes a few people will make posts about how certain people shouldn’t come online but in the real world no ones stopping anyone from coming. literal groups of straight people march in the parades all the time. you’re literally scaring kids away from their first prides with your homophobic bullshit.
Having separate flags is good bcos it’s good to have a symbol for your particular identity to embrace but it also important to remember the rainbow flag unites us all. All LGBT+ people can use it. I feel like it’s somehow become assumed by a lot of younger lgbt+ people that it’s only fr gay men, which it isn’t and never has been
