Scott Brunton came forward to say that this article, written by Shane Snow, is false. he says Snow twisted his words and brought in outsider obervers in order to exonerate Takei.
Brunton says he may have been mistaken in thinking he was drugged by Takei—he may have simply been very drunk—but stands by his story that he did indeed reach a point of unconsciousness or near unconsciousness and George Takei used that to take off his pants and sexually assault him. he did not intentionally embellish things or get multiple key pieces of his story wrong.
Snow unethically warped his words in order to make it seem like Brunton was admitting to lying and laughing it off as an awkward date. that is not the case. Brunton insists he was sexually assaulted by Takei and that he did not make the story up, but, rather, misconstrued some information at worst.
i am very sorry to have spread misinformation as i always intend to fight for and stand by survivors. for some reason, Snow’s article is what’s being discussed in the media and Brunston correction is being ignored, so i did not see it.
please spread this correction. George Takei is not exonerated.
when my dash loaded the top photo the words “oh, that’s lovely!” came into my mind. i thought it was a painting. it looks like it should be in a museum.
